The Dying Of Brooklyn
Hipsters are usually not solely ruining Williamburg, they’re seeping out into the remainder of Brooklyn (as their trust fund cash runs out) and the remainder of new York City. I even heard there was a hipster on Long Island. That’s muscle-head Guido territory! What’s a hipster you might ask? The perfect, and most correct, definition comes from the Time magazine (July 2009), “Hipsters are the friends who sneer when you cop to liking Coldplay. They’re the people who put on t-shirts silk-screened with quotes from motion pictures you’ve by no means heard of and the one ones in America who nonetheless suppose Pabst Blue Ribbon is a good beer. They sport cowboy hats and berets and assume Kanye West stole their sunglasses. All the pieces about them is exactingly constructed to give off the vibe that they only don’t care.”
A hipster is also a living and respiratory model of irony. They’re hell bent on not conforming to society, identical to their beatnik and hippie mother and father, yet all of them costume and act the identical. In addition they hearken to the identical obscure music (that’s obscure for a reason…), sporting black body glasses half the dimensions of their heads, pants too skinny to function in, and an ugly sweater from their mom’s closet. Nicely, it’s not their mom’s sweater. They simply purchased it at Beacon’s Closet in Brooklyn from somebody else’s mom.
What makes them so hated (but imagine me there are plenty of causes) is that nothing is of their own. It’s as if every other cultural type threw up on them -together with beat, hippie, punk, grunge, alternative, and indie. They stole from everybody else and all the pieces that was cool t-shirt mit animal print and claimed it as their very own. However of course they will never admit that, nor will they admit what they “stole” was ever cool to start with. So t-shirt mit animal print you’ll be able to see why nearly everybody else on the planet tends to hate them.
Out of the blue I’m deemed a hipster as a result of I like Apple products and because I go to craft beer bars, some of that are in Brooklyn. I can’t put on a plaid shirt without feeling self conscious after i walk the streets of Brooklyn at night. No, I enjoy Apple merchandise as a result of Steve Jobs knew how you can create a functioning pc. I like craft beer as a result of my taste buds inform me it’s good and it’s alcohol with integrity (as a result of I can’t afford expense wine…). And i like plaid shirts as a throwback to the grunge period, a time of superior music for rock.
Hipsters have added nothing new or cool to the scene. As a substitute, they’re killing it and killing Brooklyn too. They’re spreading farther than Bedford Avenue and it worries me. I’m hoping it’s a passing section like each other period. Maybe in the future they’ll wake up, get an actual job, and wear a go well with and tie like the rest of us and on that day I can hang out in Brooklyn again without concern of cultural assault.
